What is the advantage of booking through the hotel and not through Booking.com?
If you book directly with the hotel you have better cancellation conditions, more choice of room types and we always try to be 5% cheaper than Booking.com. In addition, you can arrange special requests or questions directly through our reception instead of Booking.com customer service.
Do I have to pay for my reservation online?
With the non-refundable rate, you must pay the entire amount at the time of booking. For the flexible rate we ask for the first night as a deposit. If the payment is not successful, we will send you a separate payment request. Check out our rates and payments page for more information.
How can I cancel my reservation made through the hotel?
Cancellations must always be communicated to our reception by email. As long as you have received a cancellation confirmation, the cancellation is not yet complete.
How can I cancel my reservation I made through Booking.com?
We cannot cancel reservations made via Booking.com for you. You will need to do this through your account or through Booking.com customer service. Take into account a 7-day cancellation period via Booking.com.
Apparently I booked on my parents' wedding day... Can I still cancel?
This is no longer possible with the non-refundable rate. With the flexible rate, this is possible up to 3 days in advance if you book directly with the hotel. If you have booked through Booking.com, you can cancel free of charge up to 7 days in advance.
Do I have to provide my credit card details when making a reservation?
Only if you want to pay the deposit by credit card. If you do this via IDEAL or bank transfer, this is not necessary – although you will receive messages about this.
What payment methods are accepted?
You can pay via IDEAL, credit card or bank transfer. If you want to pay by bank transfer, we can send you the bank details.
Do you accept cash payments?
Yes we accept cash payment.
What time can I check-in?
Check-in is from 3 p.m. If you want to use the room earlier, you can book an early check-in. For €17.50 you can use the room from 13:00 (not possible for the De Waker apartment).
How do I reach the hotel?
Can I park at the hotel?
You can park at the Strandhotel on Heereweg 395 or at the Strandstudios on Heereweg 403 (1871 GL, Schoorl)
If I arrive early can I leave my luggage with you in advance?
You can already drop off your luggage at our reception. Please contact our reception to discuss this.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not allowed in the hotel. You can only bring your pet in our hotel suite with kitchen. You can indicate this at the reception and we will charge a surcharge of €15 per dog per night.
Can I smoke in the hotel? Where can I smoke?
Smoking is not allowed anywhere in our hotel. If we find that there has been smoking in the room, we will charge cleaning costs.
Are there facilities for wheelchair users?
Our polder studio is accessible for the disabled, so is our breakfast restaurant and our restaurant Struin too.
I have a hen night planned. Can we come?
No, parties are not allowed in the hotel.
Can I have breakfast at the hotel?
You can enjoy a delicious breakfast in our restaurant in the hotel between 08.00 and 11.00. You can reserve a table on arrival (or in advance). Look here for more information about our breakfast.
Can I have dinner at the hotel?
Do you have a kitchen for me?
Our polder suites and family studio have a kitchenette with a 2-burner stove, microwave and small fridge. The hotel suite with kitchen has a full kitchen.
Does every room have a fridge?
No, our double ++, junior dune suite, polder studio, polder suites and family studio have a small fridge. The family apartment and hotel studio with kitchen have a large fridge. There is no refrigerator in the other rooms.
Does the hotel have a sauna?
You can reserve our sauna per 2 hours for €20. You then have the sauna all to yourself – including a steam cabin. Reservations can be made through our reception.
Can I rent bicycles at the hotel?
We have some electric and regular bicycles for rent in the hotel. You can rent these bicycles through our reception. Otherwise you can go to Maseling in Groet (2km from the hotel).
Can I park my bicycle safely?
We have a covered bicycle shed where you can store your bicycle. It will be locked at night.
Can I charge my electric bicycle?
We have sockets in our bicycle shed to charge your electric bicycle.
Are there rooms with sea view?
Only our 6-person apartment de Waker has a sea view. The other rooms don't.
How far is the hotel from the beach?
The hotel is located 300 meters from the beach, a few minutes walk.
Is there wifi available in the hotel?
During your stay you can use our free wifi. In addition, you can stream to your television in the room via your telephone, laptop or tablet.
What time do I have to check-out?
Check-out is until 12:00. If you want to use the room until later, you can reserve a late check-out. For €17.50 you can use the room until 2 p.m. (not possible for apartment De Waker)
I want to stay on the beach a little longer. Can I leave my luggage with you?
You can leave your luggage at our reception. You can discuss this in advance or on departure at our reception.
What rates can I book?
You can book the competitive non-refundable rate or the flexible rate.
What are the conditions of a flexible rate?
With the flexible rate you can cancel free of charge up to 3 days in advance if you book through our reception or website. If you book through Booking.com, you can cancel free of charge up to 7 days in advance.
What are the conditions of a non-refundable rate?
The non-refundable rate is 10% cheaper than the flexible rate, but free cancellation is no longer possible. This rate is available up to 10 days before arrival.
What is city tax and when will it be charged?
Tourist tax in the municipality of Bergen is €1.95 per night per person (from 5 years). With the non-refundable rate you pay this when booking, with the flexible rate you pay this at the hotel.
