Cycling in Camperduin and surroundings
The surroundings of Camperduin are a paradise for cyclists. Dunes, polders and coast alternate here, and thanks to the extensive junction network you can easily plan your own route. On this page we share our tips for the most beautiful cycling routes in Schoorl, Bergen, Groet, Egmond, Petten and Alkmaar.
Schoorl Dunes Route
The Schoorl Dunes offer challenging routes with climbs and winding paths through forest and heathland. Perfect for sporty cyclists who love variety and nature. Cycling through polder and villages
Do you prefer relaxed cycling? Then explore the polder landscapes towards Alkmaar and Groet. Along the way you will pass windmills, meadows and cozy village centers where you can make a stop.
On this page we share some tips for great bike tours. It is also very easy to plan your own tour, the area lends itself very well to this. We also like to think along for a nice tour.
At the hotel we rent regular bikes (€12.50 per day) and e-bikes (€27.50 per day). You can reserve these bikes through our reception.
If you bring your own bike, it can be parked in our bike shed. This is locked in the evening. Electric bikes can also be charged here, it is not allowed to charge batteries in the room for safety reasons.
Municipality of Bergen & Alkmaar tour (50 km)
Get on your bike and experience a beautiful route of about 50 kilometers through the versatile surroundings of Bergen and Alkmaar. This tour takes you past vast dunes, picturesque villages and the bustling heart of Alkmaar. Along the way you will enjoy varied landscapes: from forests and polder roads to the cozy terraces on a village square.
This tour starts in Camperduin, and goes past Hargen aan zee, Schoorl aan zee, Bergen aan zee, Egmond aan Zee, Alkmaar, Bergen, Schoorl and Groet. A beautiful anyway with many places along the way to stop for coffee, lunch or drinks.
Whether you choose a sporty ride on a regular bike or relaxing on an e-bike - the route is doable for everyone. The nice thing is that you can also cycle the tour in parts. For example, you can make a shorter loop through the dunes one day and discover the city of Alkmaar, with its famous canals and attractive city center, the next day.
After an active day on the pedals, it's great to come home to our hotel. Rest your legs, enjoy a snack and a drink, and start dreaming of the next miles you will discover.

Camperduin - Bergen aan zee - Schoorl (26.3 km)
This varied 26-kilometer route starts in Camperduin and takes you right through the beautiful Schoorl Dunes. Via the dunes you cycle to Bergen aan Zee, where you can get a breath of fresh air on the beach. Then you ride through the green Bergerbos towards the artist village of Bergen, with its cozy terraces and unique atmosphere. From there you return to Camperduin, with plenty of nature, fresh sea air and picturesque views along the way. An ideal tour for an active afternoon!
On the way, don't forget to stop for coffee at the Berenkuil, which is a cozy restaurant in the middle of the Schoorl dunes (node 47).

Camperduin - Petten - Schagen - Warmenhuizen - Schoorl (47.6 km)
This varied route of about 40 kilometers starts in Camperduin and takes you along the coast to Petten, known for its wide beach and impressive Hondsbossche Zeewering. Then you cycle inland to Schagen, a pleasant town with a historic center and nice terraces for a short break. Via Warmenhuizen you continue to Schoorl, famous for its dunes and the cozy climbing dune in the middle of the village. From there you return to Camperduin.
Highlight: get off in Petten and climb the high vantage point, from here you can look far over the North Sea and the polder!

Camperduin - Callantsoog - Den Helder - Texel Den Burg (63 km)
For the true cycling enthusiast, this route is a wonderful challenge. From Camperduin you cycle along the coast towards Callantsoog, with its vast beaches and flowering dune valleys. Then you ride on to Den Helder, where you take the boat to Texel. The crossing alone is an experience!
On Texel itself, you can tour around cozy towns like Den Burg and Oudeschild, or a little further towards De Koog and the lighthouse at De Cocksdorp. Do count on a considerable distance: this tour is especially suitable for e-bike cyclists. So don't forget to recharge your battery at a café or restaurant along the way - that way you can enjoy all the beautiful places you encounter along the way without worry.
Practical tips along the way:
Callantsoog: ideal for a coffee break and to recharge your bike battery.
Den Helder: before leaving by boat, you can grab a bite to eat or recharge here.
Texel: scattered around the island you will find numerous charging points, for example at catering establishments in Den Burg and Oudeschild.
Highlight: the ferry crossing and the unique island feeling as soon as you arrive on Texel.
